Edo

In the final semester of my foundation course, I created a showroom-like immersive space displaying my first pattern collection. The collection was based on ideas from the Japanese Edo period, an era of prolonged peace and stability, which allowed the arts to flourish especially when depicting scenes of daily life. This is where my interest in 'embracing the mundane' began, with the patterns coming from simple things such as: fingerprints, bricks, and the folds in a bin bag.
